Product Information For Squier Strat Electric Guitar Pack
The Squier Special Strat is the all time classic of electric guitars. The original Stratocaster, as it was named, was designed and built in 1954 by Leo Fender, an amp and guitar maker in America. The design of the guitar was, and still is, revolutionary and we believe it owes its modernistic name to the then super-modern aircraft, the 'Stratocruiser'.
Despite its then outrageous appearance, the Strat was a beautiful design and every new feature was there for a good reason. The Stratocaster's many nuances included a front and back contoured body that fitted the player better than any other electric guitar available at the time, a double cutaway that would allow easy access to the high notes at the top of the neck, also the top 'horn' on the body acted as a much better balancing point than the normal point on the body from which the strap is connected. The guitar would hang naturally on the strap at the correct angle for optimum playing access. There were three single-coil pickups which, by moving the selector switch to different points, would give an extremely wide variety of sounds previously unavailable. The neck, like on the Telecaster he invented several years earlier, had all machine heads on the top side, making tuning much easier. The Stratocaster's tremolo unit was also an incredible invention and much more effective than any other unit at the time, in fact, in our opinion, to this day has never been surpassed.
This design was an inspiration and was very successful, being copied by many other electric guitar manufacturers. Most guitarists from that age to this play a Strat of some kind or other, such names as Buddy Holly, Hank Marvin, Mark Knopfler, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton etc. Almost every guitarist imaginable plays a Strat and every feature mentioned above is still fitted as standard on the Squier Special Strat electric guitar that comes in this package.
The Squier SP10 Amplifier is a great little amp, measuring just 30cm tall, powerful for its size. It delivers 10 watts RMS and has a headphone socket which, when headphones are plugged in, disconnects the speaker thereby depriving (or otherwise) any nearby listener from the pleasures of the beginner guitarist at work! (Headphones are not supplied in the package but are available at £10 extra). * For a limited period: Includes Free Headphones! There are three knobs: Volume, Treble and Bass, plus a push-in switch for clean or distortion and heavy rock sounds.
Also in the package are Squier Digital Quartz Tuner, pretty essential in order to check tuning, and also helps avoid string breakage by over-tightening! A 10ft Guitar Cable is included along with a 'Gigbag' (soft carrying case for the guitar). A small pack of Fender Plectrums, and a Nylon Guitar Strap come in the package, along with a Tutorial DVD or Book with CD.
